National Grid Ventures (NGV) is developing plans to build LionLink, a new subsea electricity cable (known as an interconnector) between the UK and the Netherlands. LionLink will enable the cross-border transmission of clean electricity between the two countries, with the capacity to deliver up to 2 gigawatts (GW), which will be vital in supporting greater energy security and delivering more affordable energy for consumers. As an Offshore Hybrid Asset (OHA), LionLink is a first of its kind technology, which will connect to the Dutch offshore windfarm, Nederweik 3.We are now undertaking our statutory consultation on our proposals, and we would like to hear your views. This runs from Tuesday 13 January 2026 to Tuesday 10 March 2026. Please use this feedback form to provide your comments, which we’ll use alongside planning policy, technical assessments and environmental surveys to finalise our proposals. Following the end of this consultation, we’ll produce a Consultation Report as part of our Development Consent Order (DCO) application, which will be submitted by National Grid Ventures LionLink Limited (NGVLLL), our subsidiary company. The report will summarise the main themes raised throughout the consultation and explain how we’ve responded to feedback.
