National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) is delivering the North London Reinforcement (NLR) project to upgrade the electricity network across North London, modernising substations that have been in use for over 60 years and doubling the capacity of existing overhead lines between Pelham and Hackney.This work means we will deliver a Community Fund worth more than £3.5 million. Two funds will provide direct and immediate support for communities, including £530,000 near Stocking Pelham and £530,000 near Waltham Cross.The remaining £2.7 million will be delivered through a Strategic Fund, supporting the wider strategic priorities of an area or region and delivering broader benefits than can be achieved through Local Funds alone.Shaped by the community, for the community, these funds will be designed to reflect local needs and developed in line with government guidance.
