QUEST Event - Central Manchester

QUEST is a whole-system voltage optimisation system, designed to co-ordinate the actions of multiple voltage control and optimisation techniques.

By combining CLASS & Smart Street, adding NEM (33kV control) and interacting with multiple Active Network Management (ANM) in a  holistic whole system approach we can optimise voltage control across the whole the network for the future increase of Low Carbon Technologies.

As the project draws to a close, we are pleased to share our learnings on this all day face to face event.

Why is QUEST Needed? 

QUEST demonstrates active Voltage Control across all of the DNO network voltages can be optimised to maximise the use of the existing network and allow for the increased uptake of LCTs and the subsequent increase in demand on the network. 

Over the years, DNOs have deployed several discrete voltage management techniques which have been successful in helping to manage the network. QUEST will address their inherent limitations by fully coordinating their use.
